Guitar Hero III Costs Just $40

Well, sort of. I went to Blockbuster last night to see if there were any new Blu-ray movies I wanted to watch and on my way out, I grabbed their monthly “entertainment guide.” Inside the gaming section, they featured Guitar Hero III for the Nintendo Wii, PlayStation 3, and the Xbox 360. The pricing is exactly where we expected it to be.
For the PS3 and the Xbox 360, Guitar Hero III will cost $109.99 including one guitar controller. Additional guitars are sold for $69.99 each, meaning that the game itself is “worth” about 40 bucks. The newsletter does not reflect the recent price drop on the PS3, however, still listing it at $659.99 rather than the new $499.99-ish price point.
On a side note, the Wii version of Guitar Hero III costs 10 bucks less. This is because the guitar peripheral, which also costs $10 less, doesn’t need a wireless radio of its own, instead relying on the Wii Remote that you plug into its body. Pricing for GH III for the Wii has been set at $99.99 with extra guitars costing $59.99.
