Grand Theft Auto IV Release Date: April 29, 2008

The highly-anticipated Grand Theft Auto IV finally has a release date: April 29, 2008. Players who’ve been longing to play the latest iteration of the series (the first of its kind for next-gen consoles) need only wait 3 months more!

Rockstar Games, a publishing label of Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc. (NASDAQ: TTWO), is proud to announce the release date for Grand Theft Auto IV, the new title in the genre-defining Grand Theft Auto franchise. Developed by Rockstar North, Grand Theft Auto IV will be simultaneously available for Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system and PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system and will be in stores worldwide on April 29, 2008.

As you can see, it will be a simultaneous for the Xbox 360 and the PS3. The question is, will it sell more PS3s and Xbox 360s? It’s not an exclusive, but considering the failure rate of Xbox 360s, I’m sure there are some gamers out there who are just waiting for a reason to buy a PS3. Maybe this title will tip the scales in Sony’s favor?
