Grand Theft Auto IV Rated M For Mature
The highly-anticipated Rockstar Games title Grand Theft Auto IV has just received its ESRB rating: M for Mature. This is usually the rating that most publishers dread since it makes the game less accessible, but for GTA, it’s familiar territory. It’s “M” because of the following:
- Intense Violence, Blood, Strong Language,
- Strong Sexual Content,
- Partial Nudity,
- Use of Drugs and Alcohol
For veteran players, the rating’s expected. In fact, a lower score might even cause a minor uproar among fans because they would certainly suspect that Rockstar went soft after the Hot Coffee controversy. So let’s enumerate. Violence? Check. Cussing? Check. Drugs and booze? Check. Partial nudity? Check. Wait a minute. I don’t recall any previous GTA titles that had partial nudity. Will it cause a re-rating? Let’s hope not.
