Good Old Games Offers Exactly That
PC gamers who are looking for a little slice of nostalgia heaven will be happy to know that a new website is up to serve exactly that. Thanks to Good Old Games, you’ll be able to play the classics you enjoyed at reasonable prices.
Drawing from a pool of Interplay and Codemasters Windows classics, GOG currently features the likes of Fallout, Fallout 2, Freespace, Giants: Citizen Kabuto, Descent, and many more. The site updates every Tuesday with a handful of new titles, and there are more games due “soon,” including Soldiers: Heroes of World War 2, Operation Flashpoint, and Colin McRae Rally 2005.
Of course, it had me at Fallout. I still have copies of both Fallout 1 and 2 though, so I’m good. Prices range from $5.99 to $9.99 USD, which isn’t a bad deal at all. The source also notes that the games are DRM-free, so install at will, folks. As long you purchased a copy, GOG isn’t going to count how many times you install the title. That’s more that anyone can say for Spore. Now if only it carried Baldur’s Gate…
