Godfather 2 is Not Wii-Bound

The Nintendo Wii didn’t officially get in on the action with the first Godfather game until Electronic Arts decided to release the Blackhand Edition. Throwing in the Wii motion-sensing controls into the world of mob warfare made for some rather interesting actions. As a result, Godfather: Blackhand Edition managed to do reasonably well on Nintendo’s home console.

That’s why it’s a little surprising to hear that EA has absolutely zero plans of bringing the second Godfather game to the Wii. That’s right. No Godfather 2 for the Wii. Instead, the gaming studio has its focus set squarely on the versions destined for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. As you know, developing a game for the Wii (even if it’s a port) is quite the different exercise than making a “conventional” X360 or PS3 game.

Realistically, I think it’s more likely that EA will boll down and bring Godfather 2 to the Wii, albeit in a “refreshed” form a few months after the original starts to die down on the other two systems.
