Gallery: Final Fantasy XIII

Destructoid has a few scans of Final Fantasy XIII and Versus for you to enjoy. While they focus on the appearance of a clown dog, which is most likely a summoned creature because it shares the same page as series staples Ifrit and Shiva, let’s see what else we can gather from the screenshots.

• The female lead is wielding a sword that has a trigger on it. Is that another gunblade? Final Fantasy VIII’s lead character Squall had a similar weapon. In combat, it was used as a melee weapon. At the precise moment of contact with a foe, players had to press a button to fire a shot, causing more damage. Will we see something similar here?

• The weapon of the lead character from Final Fantasy Versus III looks like a sword with one-half of a V-twin engine. Seriously, I hope that thing has a few mechanical features that will affect gameplay because its steampunk design would be a waste if it was was purely aesthetic.
