Epic Failures In Gaming

TheFeed has a list of the top ten failures in gaming. Yes, it’s another list. They seem to be sprouting quite a bit this week. But note that the entries listed here aren’t ordinary failures. No, these ones are categorized as epic losers in the world of gaming.

Every North American MMO Since World of Warcraft: It was only a few years ago when the entire game industry seemed geared toward everything massively multiplayer. A quick look at 2004 and 2005′s E3 rundown reveals dozens of MMOs either in development or planned. WoW killed or crippled all of them. The reasons are many, but a huge contributing factor is simply how good World of Warcraft is as a game. WoW perfectly balances fun and challenge, and keeps its players involved no matter where on the hardcore-to-casual spectrum they happen to fall.

My sentiments exactly. A few weeks after I started playing WoW I wondered why I ignored it for so long. I knew and heard it was good, but the subscription thing was a concern for me so I blocked it out. Now that I’m a regular player, I often wonder why my other gamer friends aren’t into it as well. Whenever they bring up an MMO and tell me how good it is, I think about why they’re wasting their time on it. I mean, come on, 9 million players can’t all be wrong, right?
