EA Guarantees NFL License for Madden Through 2012

Remember NFL Quarterback Club? Remember how that was the key competition to the powerhouse known as Madden? Well, it looks like EA is going to continue their reign of football-fueled fire for at least a few more years because Electronic Arts has secured the exclusive rights to producing official NFL games through to the 2012 season.

As a result, if you want to get in some official licensed football action any time soon, the only place that you’ll have to turn is EA and their legendary Madden franchise. I’m sure John Madden is pretty happy about this news right here. He’s probably talking about “hitting that thing right there” right now. As you’d probably suspect, a similar deal was inked with the NFLPA to secure the names of real players too.

No NFL Quarterback Club. No NFL2K. That is, unless either of those franchises decides to do, like, a CFL game or something. I imagine that CFL2K9 might not sell so well south of the border.
