Back when I was in college I decided to take summer classes to ease the course load of the upcoming semester. Of the available subjects, I chose French. It turned out to be quite a memorable summer, not because of the class, but what happened after: Command & Conquer: Red Alert.

It started with an idea. We were all hanging out during post-class hours and someone said we should hit an Internet cafe and play C&C:RA over LAN. What started as a random idea became a daily habit. Well, it was daily as long as our personal college budgets permitted it. We would eventually try Starcraft, but we’d always make sure that we had a round of C&C before the day ended.
