Dissidia: Final Fantasy Dated
Those of you who keep tabs on releases know that Dissidia: Final Fantasy is already out in Japan. Square Enix has revealed that North American gamers will get their hands on the game in mid-2009. Here are some of what you can expect:
Legacy: Experience the high-quality world and gameplay mechanics of FINAL FANTASY presented in an action-packed environment where players can glide through the air and dash along walls.
All-new battle system: Action-based battle system combines all-out brawling alongside RPG-based character development in an original system developed by the creators of the KINGDOM HEARTS series.
We featured a trailer before where Cloud and Sephiroth fought each other, so you should have an idea of combat works in the game. The question is how well it’s implemented and how smooth the framerate will be. It’s certainly a very flashy game, the sort that non-gamers can watch, but even those who play fighting games may not be able to make sense of what’s going on under all the special effects.
The Japanese magazine Famitsu gave Dissidia a very solid score of 36/40. That certainly raises my expectations of the English release, so here’s to hoping that the reviews on our side are favorable as well.
