Disgaea DS Impressions

I know that you’ve probably had enough of it by now when it comes to me and my obsession with Disgaea, but what can I say? That’s why it’s called an obsession. Anyway, here are my impressions of Disgaea on the DS.
- You’d think that a touchscreen interface would feel right at home with Disgaea, but it isn’t. I’m not saying the interface is bad, it just needs a little getting used to. For example, targeting individual blocks isn’t easy because of the isometric view. Units get in the way of your stylus, so you end up targeting them instead of the empty square you wanted to select. Not a huge deal, but it’s a little annoying.
- You can skip animations! The first few times I saw Laharl’s Meteor Impact was impressive, but when you go through the leveling grind, it becomes a test of patience. With Disgaea DS, that’s no longer a problem.
- Enemies move quicker! Another noticeable improvement is that enemy units will move quicker, if you want them to. No more waiting for their turn to end this time around.
There are a few other changes, but overall this is still the same game you love (or hate, for that matter). If you haven’t had a chance to play Disagea on the PS2 or the PSP, this is your chance! Even on the DS, this gem of a strategy game is still recommended!
