Confirmed: PS3 Controller Finally Gets Rumble

Yes, that is a PlayStation 3 controller that you see there and yes, it is indeed getting jiggy with it. After piles of complaints from die-hard fans, Sony has finally decided to give the PS3 controller the rumble treatment. It’s been a long time coming, because we first only given the option to go with SIXAXIS with no jiggly motion in sight. That has now changed.

The guys at IGN are soaking in the sights and sounds of the Tokyo Game Show and they had a chance to meet up with Electronic Arts at their pre-show press event. While playing Burnout Paradise there, the IGN crew suddenly felt the PS3 controller shake, rumble, and vibrate. Yes, a rumble-equipped SIXAXIS controller. It was then that they realized the controller was slightly heavier than usual and had a sticker on the bottom that said “rumble.”
