Checking Out the New NXE Premium Themes

If you’ve booted up your Xbox 360 in the last couple of days, you may have noticed a little something that has been waiting for you. After much hype and anticipation, the New Xbox Experience (NXE) is here. This is a significant update over the “Blades” style menu interface that populated the Xbox 360 to date.

Perhaps the most notable change, aside from the revamped user interface, is the introduction of the Xbox Avatars. Yeah, these are basically Microsoft’s version of the Mii characters on the Nintendo Wii, but they’re a little more animated and seem to have a little more personality. Aside from the Avatars, NXE also brings a series of premium themes.

Unfortunately, it is not possible to preview these premium themes without buying them first through the Xbox Marketplace. That’s kind of dumb, because why would you buy something that you cannot even see? Thankfully, the people at the NeoGAF Forums have compiled some screenshots of the new themes, so check them out if you’re thinking of buying one. The Halo Wars theme is shown above.
