Captain Jean-Luc Picard Pimps the Nintendo DS

Whether they are willing to admit it not, most people have watched Star Trek: The Next Generation at some point in their lives. Even if they haven’t, they probably recognize Patrick Stewart as Captain Jean-Luc Picard. You may also know him as Professor Xavier from X-Men. No matter where you know him from, you know Patrick Stewart. And Nintendo is totally cashing in on that recognition.

Nintendo has traditionally had a company image that caters to younger folks. They got a little older when they hired Nicole Kidman to do some Brain Age / Brain Training commercials. And now they’ve officially gone geriatric by soliciting the services of Capt. Jean-Luc Picard to help them pimp out the Nintendo DS Lite this holiday season.

The upcoming marketing campaign for the UK will involve Patrick Stewart as well as several other British celebrities, including Julie Walters (Molly Weasley in the Harry Potter films), Phillip Schofield, Fern Britton, Zoe Ball, and Johnny Ball.
