Capcom: Mega Man 9 is Buggy On Purpose

If you’re going to go retro, you might as well be authentic about it.

That seems to be the philosophy coming out of Capcom when it comes to their upcoming Mega Man 9 release on the Wii Virtual Console, Xbox Live Arcade, and PSN Store. We’re supposed to be treated to Mega Man in all of his 8-bit glory, including dated graphics and the inability to have more than three enemies on the screen at any given time. Capcom wants to kick the nostalgia into you.

Going even further, it turns out that Capcom is purposely putting in bugs and sprite flicker for a true 8-bit experience. This way, you get the real look and feel of a game from the NES. If you’re not down with the flickering, you can hop into the options and turn that off. Then again, why would you want to do that?

All I need now is some truly retro Tetris, Transformers, and Saved by the Bell.
