Buy the Guitar Hero Soundtrack on iTunes

ghitunes.JPG

Part of the appeal of the Guitar Hero franchise can found in the tracks that they chose to include in the rhythm game. These songs really let you rock out at full blast, because many of them were instant classics when they were originally released. If you’ve been anxious to enjoy the same playlist on your iPod, now you can. Hop on over to iTunes and you’ll discover full set lists for every Guitar Hero game thus far.

Yup, you can get the whole track list for Guitar Hero, Guitar Hero II, Guitar Hero Encore: Rocks the 80s, and even Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock. The price, however, is pretty much the same as buying the game itself. The Guitar Hero III soundtrack, for example, chimes in a whopping $60. Guitar Hero and GH II aren’t much better at $43 and $54, respectively.

This is because Apple isn’t selling you “albums” per se. Instead, you basically purchase every song individually, except they’re all bundled together without a discount. There is an iTunes Essentials for Guitar Hero pack, however, that includes 25 songs for $24.75 (US). Yup, no discount there either.
