Batman: Arkham Asylum Hands-On At GDC
Those of you who have been waiting—and probably dreading—to hear about the gameplay in the upcoming Batman: Arkham Asylum should note that it was playable at the GDC. Here’s a summary of how the game’s combat feels like:
The combat is cinematic without making you feel weighed down by the animations. Finishing moves and brief moments of slow-mo to show off a brutal attack give you the feeling of power and weight. This is how the Batman operates: he feels like an almost unstoppable foe, but still human; the world’s greatest detective is more than well represented in Arkham Asylum.
That’s definitely good news. The source also notes the game’s excellent implementation of Batman’s arsenal. The Caped Crusader is known to pack more than a few tricks up his sleeve, both literally and figuratively and this title looks like it will let you do just that. What I really like about it is the voice acting. Kevin Conroy will always be the quintessential voice of Batman for me and seeing that he’s behind the mic again is going to be a treat.
