Assassin’s Creed: The Counter-Review

Chris Kohler from Game|Life reviewed Assassin’s Creed recently. It’s notable because it’s the antithesis to all the articles that praised the game. Why didn’t he like it? Read on.

The team then failed to support their presentation with any gameplay mechanics that go beyond the utterly mundane. And there’s barely even any of that. Assassin’s Creed innovates in many ways, except for the ones that are unique and crucial to the medium.

Assassin’s Creed is the Martha Stewart Wii cake, filled with cardboard and sticks: Extremely impressive, just as long as you don’t eat it.

If you love the game, you’ll hate the review. The article reminds me of the reviews for Fable, where most found the game to be good but noted that it also lacked a lot of what was promised.
