The highly anticipated action-adventure game from Ubisoft has long since been confirmed for the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360, but very few people really wondered if they were going to take the crazy interactive environment to the portable gaming world. Well, continue to not wonder, because Ubisoft has made it official. No more rumors. No more conjecture.

Set to hit the double-screened wonder known as the Nintendo DS this February, Assassin’s Creed takes place during the Third Crusade in the year 1191. Taking on the role of Altair, your objective is to slay nine historical figures who are propagating the Crusades, hacking, slashing, and sneaking around your way to success.

How the intense graphics found on Sony’s and Microsoft’s high-powered gaming machines will translate to the decisively less-powerful DS remains to be seen.
