April Fool’s: Capcom Revives A Sixteen-Year Old Joke

shenglongsil.jpg

April Fool’s humor is rampant on the Internet. For example, Blizzard’s take was excellent, coming up with three jokes this year: the announcement of the Bard hero class, the availability of WoW to consoles (on the Atari 2600, no less!) and the Tauren marine’s presence in StarCraft II. On the other end of the humor spectrum is the above teaser image from Capcom. He is said to be a secret character in the upcoming Street Fighter IV. If you’re familiar with the lore, you must defeat him to stand a chance against Ryu.

If you guessed Sheng Long, then congratulations! It also indicates that you’ve been playing Street Fighter for a long time. SF veterans know the story, but here’s the wiki entry if you need a refresher. This is a sixteen-year old joke, folks! Capcom seriously needs to find better material than this. It’s a cruel thing to play on the hopes of hardcore SF fans who want nothing better than to finally unlock the character.
