Alvin and the Chipmunks Rhythm Game

I think I’ve been violated.

Or more specifically, my childhood has been violated. Hollywood has decided to take just about every franchise from my early years and “reinvent” it for the 21st century. They did it with the Ninja Turtles. They did it with Transformers. Heck, they might even be doing it for Teddy Freaking Ruxpin. And now, they’ve turned their attention to Alvin and the Chipmunks.

Not only are they making a live action movie with CG chipmunks featuring Alvin, Simon, and Theodore, they’re cashing in full throttle by producing a video game to accompany the flick. And get this, it’s going to be a musical rhythm game of some kind, attacking the same segment as Boogie, Guitar Hero, and Dance Dance Revolution. The song list includes entries from Blink 182, REM, and even Run DMC.

The expected release date is December 4th with versions of the game being developed for the PS2, Wii, PC, and Nintendo DS.

Here’s the movie trailer.
