16 Players Online for Mario Kart Wii

Although I have tried playing other Nintendo WiFi Connection games on my DS, the title that I come back to time and time again is Mario Kart DS. Power-sliding my way around corners, tossing red shells at unsuspecting victims… it’s just too much fun, even if I’m getting schooled by a ten year old from Japan.

Outside of Super Smash Bros. Brawl, one of the most highly anticipated upcoming games for the Wii is Mario Kart Wii, not only because we get a tiny steering wheel attachment, but because the Official Nintendo Magazine is reporting that the game will feature online multiplayer with support for up to 16 players! That puts the 4-player dynamic in Mario Kart DS to shame.

Shortly after this story came out, however, ONM said that their thoughts on online multiplayer “were healthy speculation on our part and are in no way an official announcement from Nintendo.” Shucks.
